The
decision
for
parents
to
decline
recommended
immunizations
and
vaccinations
are
due
to
lack
of
information
which
forms
unrealistic
perceptions
and
perceived
barriers
. In
order
to
break
these
misconceptions
and
provide
resources
to
break
down
barriers
,
proper
information
and
education
have to be
delivered
to
parents
in
order
for an
educational
informed
consent
is
signed
.
Barriers
that
parents
face
which
relate
to them
declining
consent
range
from
incorrect
knowledge
,
access
to
resources
,
lack
of
funds
, and
time
constraints
.
It
was
found
that
parents
who
come
from a
lower
educational
background
are
more
inclined
to
refuse
to have their
child
vaccinated
or
immunized
before
information
is
provided
.
Educational
handouts
discussed
by
nurses
and
other
health
care
professionals
shall
be
discussed
thoroughly
with
parents
. In
order
to
determine
the
effectiveness
of
providing
education
regarding
immunizations
and
vaccines
an
assessment
survey
must
be
implemented
as
well
.
Immunizations
and
vaccines
for
children
provide
essential
preventative
care
for the
future
health
of the
child
. In
order
to
understand
the
effectiveness
of the
implementation
plan
, an
assessment
needed
to
interpret
parent’s
understanding
of the
information
provided
by
nurses
and
other
medical
staff
will be
utilized
. From there,
health
care
providers
can
review
the
answers
selected
by
parents
and
go
over
the
result
and
correct
any
misinformed
perceptions
or
misunderstandings
regarding
immunizations
and
vaccines
.
After
the
assessment
in
concluded
with the
review
of the
results
,
parents
can
make
a
proper
informed
decision
whether
or not they
decide
to
consent
or
decline
for their
child
to
receive
this
health
care
action
.
